Question Time With Life Coach Caroline Jack

caroline jack life coach - outplacement support

Looking for guidance? Caroline Jack is a life coach who specialises in helping people with their self-confidence. She supports them with their mental and physical wellbeing by working one-to-one, encouraging self-growth and personal achievement. We sat down with Caroline and asked her a few questions.

What is your specialty/passion?

I have to say helping people be true to themselves and honest about what really drives them is what I am passionate about. Through a very intuitive life coaching style I would say I specialise in helping my clients realise their real values and start to focus on what really makes them tick. To do this it starts with focusing on their mental and physical wellbeing.

How did you get to know Transition Peak?

I have been following Charlotte and her career and enjoyed her book “What To Do Next”. I wanted to work with Transition Peak to provide an additional service that will help people with their mental and physical wellbeing. Both are so vital when you're going through a career transition.

What do clients say about you?

These are some of my favourite quotes from clients:

“I can't believe the difference in my mindset and habits after only 2 sessions with Caroline Jack. Already I'm thinking in a more confident, assured way and I'm excited about making the changes I need to develop my business and achieve a better work/life balance” Jen 2020

“Huge recommendation for Caroline Jack Life Coach. Caroline is amazing, grounded, intuitive, insightful & most of all - she is 200% committed to supporting & guiding you to achieve the absolute best for you. Her style of life coaching is life-changing!! I urge you to connect with her if you are looking for support during these odd times, need a refocus in your life, set a new direction, build your confidence, unleash your potential and so much more.” Alix 2020

“Thank you so much for the last 5 weeks. Not only have you helped me clarify and define my goals, but you’ve helped me see the path I need to follow to achieve them. Otherwise, I’d still be lost in the fog.” Jane 2020

“Thank you, Caroline Jack. You're so amazing and supportive. I couldn't have done any of this without you. I didn't think in a million years that the journey would have ended up like this and so quickly.” – Nicola 2019

What you are noticing in your work through lockdown?

I am noticing that lockdown has provided people with the chance to slow down and re-set. Some have been forced out of their jobs or are receiving outplacement support, others are re-thinking their purpose. All-in-all it's been a time to start thinking about one's real values and what is really important to each of us.

What are your career highlights/greatest achievements?

I have worked for myself for the past eighteen years with different enterprises that I have set up, including the charity Smart Works , which I co-founded in Edinburgh. These have all served a purpose and led me to become a Life Coach today.

Apart from having a happy marriage and three happy children, probably my greatest achievement was when I made it to the Scottish Parliament to present to them. I spoke about flexible working and how there needed to be more emphasis on this to avoid the brain drain of great female talent who need to meet childcare needs. Ironically, two years later COVID-19 hit us and flexible working from home has now become the new normal!

What is something not many people know about you?

That I have done about twenty-five bungee jumps while I was a teenager in New Zealand! I grew up on a farm in NZ which had a huge ravine. My father struck a deal with the bungee guys that they could access the gully for free if we got free bungee jumps! At the daredevil age of sixteen, I took advantage of that and did so many jumps off that bridge. To my father’s horror, I probably did about 25 jumps!

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Only control what you can control – let go of what you can't.

What book have you read that really helped you?

"Expectation Hangover" by Life Coach Christine Hassler. Life tends to be all about expectations that are not usually met, therefore we go around with a constant expectation hangover. The key is to reduce your expectations and therefore you will be less hungover!

What would you say is your top career transition tip?

To trust the journey… Accept what has happened and commit to moving forward.
